I'm really flexing my writing muscles at ExpertVoice — did you know "then" and "than" can't be used interchangeably? Just kidding, I've been correcting people for that mistake since the 7th grade. I'm lucky to be surrounded by such a talented team and I feel honored that they trust me to write on their behalf for both B2B and B2C assets. Being able to work on their social channels, do voiceover work and bring my dog to work are the cherries on top!

The radio industry is hard work. When you work for the top stations in the market (hellz yes I did), you have to be able to do anything and everything — write newsletters, manage social media accounts, be on-air, arrange travel, oversee events, and much more! — and I loved every second. In fact, I still freelance for them, you can check out their weekly newsletters or listen to me on the air every Saturday night.

I like to describe this position as similar to "The Devil Wears Prada," except that Harriet Leve is a gem and didn't make me find her the unpublished version of the newest Harry Potter book. She did, however, teach me everything I know about marketing, sales, and Broadway.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

While I was running an after school program for at-risk youth (see below), I needed another job to pay the bills. While that work is admirable, it doesn't pay well — this could be said about the majority of meaningful jobs in our country, but I digress. I had the opportunity to take care of the sweetest little boy on earth. And when their parents had another baby, they flew me across the country to help them out for a few weeks. What can I say? I'm good at snuggling infants.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

Southeast D.C. is known for being a rough neighborhood, and for good reason. I partnered with Kid Power to create an after school program for high school kids in the area, giving them a place to learn, grow and play — and not be on the streets. This role was extremely challenging and totally rewarding. When you work with that population, they're not going to sugarcoat their feelings about how you're doing at your job. So, you learn how to get better — quick.

Spanish Fork, Ut

My first real job. I started as a part-time staffer while I was still in college because working with adolescents in a treatment center sounded like a challenge I was up for. Before I knew it, years had passed and I was working full-time as the director of one of the schools, managing staff and ensuring that every aspect of the program was going to keep the kids healthy and safe. I'll never forget this job partly because I don't think anyone forgets a job where someone threw a plum pit at their forehead, but also because I grew so much and felt honored that these families trusted me with their children. Everyone should work at a treatment facility, it's a life changing experience.
