Having worked 25+ years in a demanding corporate role, I am dedicated to taking away the feeling of being overwhelmed. My approach is to never look at the peak of the mountain, rather look at the ten steps in front of you and make each step worthwhile, while advancing all the while.In March 2012 I had to face the reality that one cannot do it all. The Super Mom syndrome is a stress inducing killer. Rarely do we have the support systems of yesteryear where family lived nearby and could pitch hit for us when we needed an extra set off hands. My choice to leave the corporate world taught me an entirely new set of skills, how to downsize, live with a lot less and be far more happy in the long run. Less is more has become my mantra. We oversaw downsizing from 4000 square feet to 2000 and had to rid our family of nearly 50% of our belongings. Taking 27 fifteen cubic foot storage vaults down to what is now in our home and what we have kept to help our children with their first homes (leaving only 2.5 vaults) had to be done. This entire process was grueling, surprisingly liberating and in the end I was left with far less weighing me down mentally and physically, freeing me up to build a successful business that relies on these experiences.
