BreathChamps aims to improve the life chances of children and young adults with asthma. We offer simple, playful and memorable ways for children, families and communities to learn about asthma.People are invited to share asthma knowledge in fun ways in their neighbourhoods, such as by re-telling asthma-themed children's stories, so communities can support each other. We offer online asthma education, singing for lung health, innovation  programmes, consultancy, keynotes and affordable products such as asthma devices, story books, games and crafts.Any profits are reinvested to offer subsidised support to disadvantaged North West England Communities.

The charity was the only finalist from the voluntary sector in any category.

12 month secondment from Director of Primary care role to this national pathfinder project.Worked with a hung council, 3 NHS trusts, schools, parents and the voluntary sector to foster joint agreement to an expression of interest in developing a unique national children’s trust pilot with DH and DfES. Successfully organised a multi-agency presentation in London for DH/DFES to gain pathfinder status.Working with the Council Executive Director and the lead member, led the Shadow Management Team to project plan the children’s trust covering social services, education and health for children 0-19 years.Managed project budget profile and monitored expenditure

I completed my nurse training at Manchester Royal Infirmary.Following qualification I trained as a cardiothoracic nurse at Wythenshawe Hospital and did all types of cardiothoracic care. I developed a strong interest in health improvement and started work as a practice nurse in the early days of this speciality. I went on to lead the development of practice nursing across 76 practices in Salford whilst working at Salford FHSA. I retain a strong interest in nursing in primary care and passionately believe that PNs are an important but oft-forgotten contributor to quality, particularly for long term conditions.
