Leckey's Firefly brand is undergoing a period of rapid growth, thanks to recent worldwide press coverage of their innovative Upsee device, which allows children with mobility limitations to 'walk' with the aid of an adult.Firefly's focus is on the creation of mobility and postural aids for children, and the brand advocates for special needs family participation through their blog and social media presence.Working for Firefly in the marketing department, I have completed a number of administrative tasks, including gathering all English text from the website into a spreadsheet, for the purpose of translating the site into a number of languages.Recent achievements include research into a range of special needs conditions, compiling facts and figures for creation of Firefly branded 'Awareness Day/Month' infographics for social media. I also created a detailed research survey to gather new information for case studies, and assisted with the initial structuring of a new Firefly online forum for parents of children with special needs. I drafted forum subject areas and discussion topics and used CMS to populate the prototype site prior to launch.My current focus is research and writing; creating articles for the blog, researching for future awareness campaigns and creating factsheets on disabilities and special needs conditions.

I have been putting together features for CultureNorthernIreland.org since September, including an article on Lisburn's first ever Culture Night, Northern Ireland's first ever mental health arts festival and an interview with X Factor starlet Janet Devlin.

PosAbility is an exciting disability lifestyle magazine for the UK. I began working with 2A Publishing prior to launch, providing consultative work and a detailed proposal which helped shape much of the editorial content around the Paralympics, employment and education in the launch issue and following editions of the magazine.The publishers asked me for exclusivity on my disability articles, a testament to the strong working relationship we established.My main focus was on employment and education issues for the disabled community and I also provided much of the magazine's Paralympics coverage in the run up to the Games. Other features I wrote examined the roles of the arts and the media in the world of disability.

I have worked shifts in the newsroom and on the business desk and also contributed entertainment reviews.

I've been working in Northern Ireland magazines and freelance as a features writer since 2006. In 2010 I gained my NVQ 4 in Newspaper Journalism at Belfast Metropolitan College.

Contributed feature ideas, researched, picture-sourced and compiled features and profiles for Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living and the All-Ireland Kitchen Guide magazines. Editor duties on a cyclical basis with other members of editorial team.
