Leading strategic planning, evaluation, and policy efforts for the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Senior Advisor and NIST liaison in the Secretary of Commerce's Office of Policy and Strategic Planning, working on emerging technologies, international standards, and other key policy priorities.

As an analyst in NIST's Program Coordination Office, I provide support to the Chief of Staff and NIST Director. The Program Coordination Office works closely with NIST laboratories and technology services and other staff offices, particularly the Budget Division, Congressional and Legislative Affairs, and Public and Business Affairs. In December 2013, I completed the Department of Commerce Executive Leadership Development Program. This program included a developmental assignment in NASA's Office of Strategy Formulation, where I was able to participate in ongoing strategic planning efforts and learn from top NASA leaders. My ongoing projects at NIST include coordination of NIST-wide policy efforts, establishing and nurturing partnerships between NIST and other organizations (including federal agencies, companies, and academic institutions), and serving as a liaison to the Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office as well as a number of other interagency groups. I provide input and analysis to inform key programmatic and budget decisions made by the Director's Office for a wide range of topics.

• Coordinate formation of Interagency Policy Coordination committee with chairs from the Executive Office of the President and high-level representatives from Federal regulatory agencies. • Enhance interagency communication of nanotechnology issues as co-leader of the Global Issues in Nanotechnology Working Group. Prepare agendas and minutes from monthly meetings, create and develop and maintain internal website. • Provide research, analysis and subject matter expertise on nanotechnology issues needed by the Executive Office of the President’s National Science and Technology Council Subcommittee on Nanoscale Science Engineering and Technology (NSET) and the four thematic NSET working groups.

AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow (2008 - 2010) *Facilitate planning for workshops of the National Nanotechnology Initiative at all levels, including: coordinating meetings with ad hoc committees; drafting agendas and straw man proposals for workshop sessions; implementing new communications strategies via web and email to improve broad participation; and prioritizing resources to ensure events stay on budget. Editor for report from workshop "Nanotechnology-Enabled Sensing" held in May 2009.*Communicate Federal nanotechnology issues and perspectives through participation and presentations at various workshops around the world; e.g., oral presentation at "Greener Nano," Eugene, OR, March 2009; US delegate and rapporteur in OECD workshop "Potential Environmental Benefits of Nanotechnology," Paris, July 2009. *Enhance interagency communication of nanotechnology issues as Executive Secretary of the Global Issues in Nanotechnology Working Group. Awarded two-year prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Explored fundamental issues of nanoscale protein bundling and network formation using microfluidic tools; created innovative measurement devices that enable in situ X-ray diffraction measurements in flow; fostered scientific partnerships with researchers from outside groups within the institute, across Germany, and in the US; coauthored six publications and presented results at over six scientific conferences and events.

Strategically developed and characterized new molecules for DNA assembly and therapeutic delivery, as one member of an interdisciplinary research team. Presented results at dozens of conferences and in 14 coauthored publications. Wrote successful proposal as primary author on request for neutron scattering beamtime at NIST.
