I am a 35-year SLO County resident, having moved here to enjoy raising my young family in rural California. I was immediately welcomed to the Cuesta and Hancock College faculties with my credentials in Spanish, English literature and Filmmaking. Previously, I was co-founder, Producer/Writer/Director with GeoVision, an independent Production Co. and Post-Production facility in Los Angeles for 14 years. We produced Documentaries, commercials, and screen magazine segments with our national PBS 10-part series, “American Perspective” a proud highlight. My combination of educational credentials and business ownership has been useful in San Luis Obispo county, supplying ever new uses for my skills while continually increasing my local professional resource base. IAt this stage in my career, my passion is to put my experience to work for individuals and businesses, especially in the area of human resource Empowerment. I specialize in Financial Literacy, helping people, who have never had the opportunity to learn the basics of personal finance, and how to take action for their own well-being, stability and growth.I came to this new field through my own personal need as a single, working person, who couldn’t afford to retire. Gretchen Ricker, a Wealth Wave Financial Literacy consultant, has an open-door policy in her Atascadero office, which provided the perfect opportunity for my inquiring mind.I learned how to bring down credit debt, and use strategies for protection and accumulation of wealth. I’m so pleased with my progress that I have joined Gretchen’s mission to educate others, especially young working folks.I am now actively promoting, marketing to and educating SLO County residents and businesses, scheduling presentations, workshops and short term classes in the essential skills of Financial Literacy, which curriculum can be found in our excellent companion book, How Money Works. I provide the short, graphic-style book free of charge to any one who attends or calls for information.My lifelong passion for giving a voice to the voiceless, has come full circle. I feel this work is critical to engage new generations in a future they can look forward to, through their own efforts, rather than face the future with dread and a sense that the older generation has failed them.
