About Heather Pearson
I am a closet nerd who geeks out over organizational shifts and growth. When others get stuck, I find a way through. I build and coach organizations to embrace action, shift attitudes, and lean in to create exceptional businesses. As a catalyst for business transformation, my passion is tackling challenges at pace… moving organizations from struggling to flourishing. I foster truly exceptional environments where growth, innovation and people are elevated. I actively choose to create a culture where all are heard, valued, and included. I enjoy feeding energy and passion into teams, influencing outcomes, and improving our communities. As a student at Oakland University, I led team-building sessions and designed educational programming for AmeriCorps. My personal journey led me to move to New Zealand, teach, project manage, and become an entrepreneur. In 2018, I shifted gears from the education sector. As the National Project Manager for Endometriosis New Zealand, I built new funding sources and challenged the status quo of program delivery. I recognized an unmet need across the country and then moved forward with an efficient and effective way to improve access. Over 12 months, I secured external funding, designed, built, and tested an interactive and engaging learning platform. Working with multiple stakeholders, I leaned on my knowledge of equitable design thinking to ideate the platform. I pulled together a team to support the build and testing. When faced with challenges, I respond respectfully and appropriately and can have the necessary complex discussions to get the job done.In 2019 I became CEO and cofounder of Calmly, a high-impact New Zealand startup with high global potential. I led us through R&D, secured investment, and then strategized and implemented our initial product launch. At the same time, I co-founded a startup, MicroBites. The concept sprouted from initial connections with community organizations like Ako Ōtautahi - Learning City Christchurch. Throughout this work, I connected and promoted micro-learning and micro-credentialing. I strategically solved for multiple customer segments by researching and studying current and future trends. I organized and spoke at community events, facilitated workshops, gathered stakeholder input and user personas. I’m a single mom, entrepreneur, dancer, and have a running style that sits somewhere between walking, running, and skipping.Over the years, I’ve been recognized as an out-of-the-box thinker. I actively look for opportunities to create change for the better.
