Heidi Duckler Dance creates place-based performances that generate inclusive and equitable learning opportunities in non-traditional spaces. Engaging communities, in the belief that the arts can change our vision of the world and of ourselves, we are a team of creative thinkers, cultural partners and advocates.Founded in 1985, Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) explores the relationship between audience and art in a culture of artistic excellence and understanding. HDD has developed a participatory and transparent practice in which each project is generated in collaboration with the community it serves. Over the past 35 years, HDD has produced over 600 original works locally, nationally and internationally, creating interdisciplinary performances in many iconic locations. HDD's programs reach more than 7,500 individuals each year. Its youth arts education programs, established in 2013, have served over 10,000 youth and families at over 25 schools and community centers throughout the City, with an emphasis on low-income communities.http://heididuckler.org/ ~ ~ ~ Since its inception in 2010 Heidi Duckler Dance/Northwest (HDD/NW) has been creating captivating storytelling through site-specific dance choreography in Portland, Oregon and the surrounding metropolitan areas. HDD/NW performers have animated iconic Pacific Northwest locations such as a hip co-inhabited office space, the paths along local forests, and the center of a local lumber yard.
