Not just sales, not just marketing, but whatever it takes to get the job done.In Donaldson's new Clean Solutions division, we were a small "all hands on deck" group. The biggest obstacle to our success was convincing heavy equipment users of the need for clean fuel, so I developed a comprehensive array of marketing resources, including the educational website MyCleanDiesel.com, sales literature, technical articles, case studies, training programs, press releases and sales support materials. I also delivered “thought leadership” presentations at trade shows and other industry events to create demand.I am especially adept at serving as a “bridge” between engineering departments and less technical customers, distributors and sales staff.Before Donaldson, I spent 10+ years successfully managing sales and marketing teams for industrial or technical products requiring a solution sale and therefore a good deal of distributor and client education.At Steinel, my team and I built a “bigger than life” brand image as the industry's technology leader on a shoestring budget. A quality image was critical with end users such as Boeing and NASA as well as our major brand OEM customers, who were my direct responsibility. Many of our projects were both cross departmental and international in scope. At the end of the day, relationship selling is probably what has served me best. When The Home Depot expanded into Chile, I had an opening order before being able to quote firm program prices. To paraphrase my buyer, "you know what I need and I trust you to deliver". It was the best compliment I've ever received.
