Currently providing a safety and health consulting/advisory/leadership role in the Risk Management Department. Supporting the Department’s Risk Management, Safety and Health, Compliance and Workers’ Compensation Divisions. Division services include injury prevention, underwriting evaluations, accident investigation, training and risk rating for clients throughout the southwest.

Houston, Texas Area

Responsible for injury prevention programs, policies and procedures for the fourth largest city in the United States. Supporting risk management efforts in employee safety and workers' compensation driving a safety culture change through continuous improvement in behavior, programs, operations and processes. Responsible for creating a detailed short term and comprehensive five year plan to mitigate exposures to employees and the general public. Responsible for sustaining all aspects of the risk management program and driving continuous performance improvement using audit and assessment implementation, incident trend analysis and industry best practices.Serve as a leader of 12 safety professionals in support of promoting and developing an innovative, proactive safety culture within all 22 departments of the city to a culture from compliance based to one that is behavior driven and encouraged by all employees. Built a City wide Accident Investigation Program to include employee injury and motor vehicle accident investigations.

Toledo, Ohio Area

Lead Special projects, investigating and evaluating solutions for transportation, IH, union or safety issues. Followed by setting up a process to roll out the controls to all plants with the potential for similar situations.Developed and maintained incident statistics, an in depth assessment and evaluation of trends, determination of causative factors and recommended/tracked corrective and improvement actions as appropriate. Helped in reducing workers compensation costs through training on injury management and modified work program.Identified opportunities in the safety and leadership education for various safety management training programs, developed and trained managers, supervision and unions on the training materials throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. Conducted train the trainer classes for plant and safety managers.•Construction safety manager for fiberglass plant retrofit of new glass furnaces, ovens and all piping in both the fiberglass insulation and pipe plants.

Construction equipment rental company; 500 U.S locations; 4000 employees; $300M revenue.Responsible for safety, environmental and transportation issues in a 9 state region. Conducted incident trend analysis, accident investigations and site inspections to evaluate and determine accident causation and prevention. Lead and participated in various corporate projects for planning and implementation of company safety, training and incentive / motivational programs. Led pilot project to reduce high level of DOT violations. Reduced violations by 25% and improved CDL driver credential files by 15% within 6 months through upgraded driver information tracking, fleet inspections and driver and management training.Developed and presented training classes that reduced employee accident frequency by 35% and lowered work comp costs by 45%. Instituted a well-planned "modified duty and return to work" program in concert with medical providers to allow post-injury workers a shorter return to work date.

By expanding communication and training tools, the employee participation in safety activities increased with resultant positive morale and team building based on feedback from employee surveys. Promoted to Senior Regional Manager when I voluntarily took on the duties of my supervisor after his untimely death. Assumed the responsibility of attending meetings, training new hires and completing projects self-initiated. Co-founded professional organization WISE, Women in Safety Engineering.
