Reporting into the CFO with responsibility for leading on and delivering the strategy for the Central Operations function with the key objectives to manage ICAEW's legal, financial and regulatory risk contractually, to protect and leverage ICAEW's intellectual property and ensure continued compliance with data protection legislation and other regulatory requirements. Leading a cohesive, resilient and connected team delivering an effective, high quality service to departments across ICAEW providing technical expertise and pragmatic, commercially minded advice which enables the organisation to meet its objectives whilst ensuring legal, financial and reputational risk is minimised. Ensuring there is adequate governance and controls in place across the organisation to demonstrate accountability under the GDPR and to deliver high quality legal and contractual advice, review and drafting. Managing, protecting and developing ICAEW's Intellectual Property for reputational and commercial gain with a specific focus on maintaining a portfolio of over 100 trademarks as well as licensing and commissioning copyright works.

Drive best practice in the negotiation, drafting and management of commercial contracts. Supporting the organisation through the delivery of legal reviews for all commercial contracts and the provision of legal and intellectual property advice. Oversight and management of the legal team to help deliver effective contract and legal risk management so that ICAEW’s commercial interests are protected and legal risk minimised. Manage, protect and develop ICAEW's Intellectual Property for reputational and commercial gain. Manage the portfolio of ICAEW trademarks and oversee all IP infringement cases. Licence content, oversee and develop the ICAEW IP strategy and provide advice, education and assistance on all IP related issues.Oversight of the Data Protection office function ensuring ICAEW’s compliance with data protection legislation, policies and processes.

Assisted with small claims workload and had responsibility for agency cases in the County Court.
