Property Maintenance - Managing a team of Engineers and Surveyors to ensure that school and corporate buildings are safe and suitable for service delivery. I ensure that statutory testing (gas, legionella etc.) is being carried out to the correct standard. This team also provides a reactive 'out of hours' service to deal with property related emergency repairs on a 24/7 basis.Construction & Design - I manage a team of Architects, Engineers and Quantity Surveyors to monitor capital spend priorities to ensure that school and corporate building projects are delivered on time, demonstrate value for money and delivered to the highest standards. Catering and Cleaning - I manage school catering services in approximately 80 schools within Dudley Borough and Wolverhampton. A total of circa 500 staff are employed to deliver a high quality lunchtime meal to primary and secondary school pupils. More recently I have managed the Dudley Town Hall Bar to provide a beverage service to support entertainment events. I applied for and obtained a Personal Alcohol License in order to satisfy the obligations for the Licensing Act. A team of casual bar staff are employed to operate the bar when required.

I manage the Construction, Design and Facilities team within the department of Corporate Landlord Services at Dudley Council. I ensure that Construction & Design identify, programme and manage capital spend priorities to ensure that projects are delivered on time, demonstrate value for money and delivered to the highest standards. I also ensure that the Council fulfils its statutory duties to maintain its buildings and sites safely; ensuring that statutory and periodic maintenance regimes are implemented. My role also ensures that the Facilities Management team maintains and manages the Council's civic and core office campus ensuring that staff and visitors are safe and to the highest standard

Whilst undertaking traditional Quantity Surveying duties including preparation of bills of quantities and agreement of final accounts I also take on the role of Project Manager which involves obtaining planning permission and building regulation approval for window replacement and roofing schemes. The role of Project Manager also includes liaising with building occupiers - mainly Head Teachers in primary and secondary school and agree a programme of works which still allows the school to deliver a full curriculum and ensures the building work does not impact on the children's learning.More recently I have taken on the role of Project Manager for Dudley LLP which involves obtaining outline planning permission for a number of schemes to enable to the Council to dispose of its estate assets and achieve maximum economic return.

I undertook my Quantity Surveying training and BSc. degree in Quantity Surveying whilst at Clugston Construction. I attended University of Central England (now Birmingham City University) on a day release basis over 5 years. The on site experience I gained whilst on site was invaluable to my overall subject learning. I was involved in a number of commercial projects including constructing a Hollywood Bowl in Newham, East London and a Morrison's supermarket in Banbury.
