Helena is an IAHIP accredited Psychotherapist with a specialty in play therapy, a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and nurse manager. Helena has over 20 years national and international experience. Her special interest areas are Child Development, Mental Well-Being, and Lactation. Helena has completed academic work in areas such as ‘the impact of COVID-19 on early childhood well-being’, she researched the impact of COVID-19 on children between the ages of 0-5years, from their parent’s perspective and experience as part of her Masters thesis. Helena volunteered as a therapist with Primary Schools and Springboard Meath for 2 years during her Psychotherapy studies, providing therapy to children, adolescents and parents. During COVID-19 restrictions when face to face therapy was disrupted Helena completed training on Tele-Play Therapy to allow her to continue to provide therapy online to children and adolescents whilst providing online support to their parents. Helena is a guest Lecturer, she has lectured on the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health Nursing in University College Dublin and Galway University. She has developed and facilitated Lactation education and training for over 10 years. Helena has published and presented at conferences in the area of Child Development, Lactation and Mental Health. Helena was the resident Lactation Consultant for Mammypages writing columns on breastfeeding and breastfeeding challenges. She previously hosted Parent discussions with a Dublin North radio station. Helena continues to provide education and talks to professionals and parents.
