My new venture...primarily working with projects either reintroducing, protecting, or educating communities about our threatened species.
Canberra, Australia
Provided advice and support for the Eastern Bettong Reintroduction into the ACT. Coordinated bird, reptile and photopoints monitoring as part of the MFGO Experiment long term monitoring. Developed policies and procedures for the MFGO Experiment particularly the Eastern Bettong reintroduction.
Roxby Downs, South Australia
My dream job...Working with the Arid Recovery Research Scientist, Scientific Advisory Committee, Arid Recovery staff, volunteers and students I was responsible for implementing a range of monitoring programs and research activities for our reintroduced threatened species populations including methods such as cage trapping, Elliot and pitfall trapping, track transects, spotlight transects, vegetation monitoring, and bird monitoring. I also coordinated four threatened species translocations. I also assisted with general reserve maintenance and pest management programs including trapping, shooting, baiting and monitoring through spotlight and track transects and analysing the stomach contents of feral cats and foxes.
Roxby Downs, South Australia
I lead a passionate team of five staff and a number of students during the development of Arid Recovery Ltd (not-for-profit organisation) and oversaw the successful delivery of a number of long term flora and fauna monitoring programs within, and external to the largest fenced reserve in arid Australia which covers 12 300ha. I also secured a number of state grants to enable our team to deliver a variety of pest management and outreach activities, and the supplementary reintroduction of the Western Barred Bandicoot from Faure Is (in collaboration with the Australian Wildlife Conservancy) to the Arid Recovery Reserve.
Roxby Downs, South Australia
I assisted with the data analysis and scientific paper write-up of GPS collar data obtained from feral cats and foxes in the Roxby Downs region with the aim at improving feral cat and fox control in the arid zone for conservation benefits.
