Courtroom Skills trainer

• Regular advocacy experience delivering courtroom skills training at the College of Policing, to medical practitioners at the Havens sexual assault referral centre, and as part of the Mobile Location in Evidence Tradecraft lecture series.• Speaker at the International Communications Data & Digital Forensics Seminars 2013.• Member of a team producing multimedia training for juries and the judiciary on the use, presentation and summing up cell-site evidence in conjunction with the Home Office, College of Policing and other experts in this field.

As a paralegal working for a sole practitioner, I spent over three years running my own caseload and interacting with clients on a daily basis. I was responsible for all residential conveyancing within the firm, but also spent a large proportion of my time assisting the Principal in areas as varied as probate, land disputes, judicial review and immigration. The latter of these allowed me the first of several chances to represent clients at a tribunal and in court.Working full time in this position, whilst studying full time for the LLB gave me a number of invaluable insights. Not only did it allow me to tailor my degree to the areas of law I found most interesting, it allowed me to understand the practical application of academic theories. Of greatest importance in this changing climate though, was the insight it gave me into the pressures faced by the legal profession in light of the Jackson reforms.

As an airborne tactician, my employment relied upon my ability to quickly and accurately collate, examine and evaluate large amounts of complicated and disparate information. Crucially however this information, and my assessment of it, could only normally be relayed via radio, meaning oral advocacy formed the core of my job. When not flying, I held a number of other positions of responsibility within the squadron and wider air-station community. These included a heavy involvement with the pastoral care team predominately through running the £30 000 internet access system for those who lived on the base. It was during this employment that I began my undergraduate studies, leading to my graduation in 2009.

This part-time position allowed me to undertake basic training whilst studying for my A-Levels.
