As a library assistant my primary focus is customer service. Not just while I’m working with the public but also in the services I plan which contribute to the wide range of offerings to keep this amazing service available. As a community hub for the general public to use freely, we work with the users to understand what they would like, and need to see in their local library. The role also includes administrative tasks for book management including circulating books, discarding those no longer relevant or in bad condition and ensuring that they are all shelved correctly.As part of the community involvement I frequently run and organise activity sessions for children, I run Lego club most months, have run Craft club and have planned and put on STEM events for children to explore new activities. I am just starting up a science club to enable primary aged children to gain Crest awards.
