Every job in my career has been about one thing: developing new approaches to make a real impact, including * managing change through periods of rapid growth, transformation and downsizing * developing services to achieve greater effectiveness and efficiencies * leading and developing teams and organisations to work towards a common goal * delivering services to meet challenging targets and achieving high levels of customer service * managing multiple, senior stakeholder relationships * developing and implementing business plans and budgets * delivering against complex contracts I have a background as a senior manager, working at the public-private sector interface, in for-profit, not-for-profit and charitable organisations. I am equally effective working as a leader or as a team member.I established and led two Business Link organisations, the largest of which provided services to over 120,000 businesses across Yorkshire and the Humber. Working for a private sector firm delivering public sector services, I transformed the company to a £35 million business, doubling outputs in a 12 month period and generating £35 for the local economy for every pound spent.Following cuts in public spending, my role focused on steering the company through successful downsizing and eventual closure, while keeping staff engaged and delivering services right through to the very last day. Indeed, we achieved our highest levels of customer satisfaction in our closing months. In 2007, I was awarded an OBE for services to business. Delivering against the odds is what I love, whether it’s in work or my spare time (as a regular camper I’m known for never giving in, despite the weather) and can always find the positives to focus on.
