ClimateOrb is a data-driven company utilizing the technology of the Internet of Things, blockchain, third-party APIs, and machine learning to track air quality data, analyze and create forecasts. Using this environmental monitoring data we can help everyone understand the effects of climate change and visualize results. Our first generation IoT device called PRiDA, monitors eight indicators: PM2.5, PM10, temperature and humidity, altitude, pressure, VOC and CO2 levels. Our second generation product uses the same technology to monitor PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10, O3, CO2, NO2, CO, temperature, relative humidity, altitude, air pressure, VOC, sound, ambient light and LPG. After the IoT device has been configured and a Wi-Fi network setup, the Environmental Quality Index (IEQ) is calculated based on a combination of sensor readings from the surrounding environment. We utilise the EPA’s (environmental protection agency) AQI guidelines and predictive systems, providing us with safe limits for a range of pollutants and with it, an accompanying colour coded layout to allow for easy recognition and reading of the data. These devices are fully capable of sensing the environment with high accuracy due to the quality of sensors we employ from companies such as Bosch. They store data on the edge which is a system entwined with blockchain, this data is then validated on the blockchain to provide real-time alerts to owners through the Internet of Things.
