About Helmut Gerber
PYREG - Pioneers of ecologic and economic sustainable biochar technology.The history of PYREG GmbH started in 2003 when PYREG CEO Helmut Gerber was investigating at the University of Applied Sciences Bingen on how to use green waste and sewage sludge in a climate friendly manner, while doing research on this topic since 1999 with woodchip gasifiers. The outcome was an innovative process which is able to convert biomasses and sewage sludges into biochar or valuable fertilizers and energy. To use this invention commercially PYREG GmbH was founded in 2009 as an University spin-off. Soon after the foundation the young company already had impressed not only the Biotech scene but also national and international authorities, which have awarded PYREG up to now several times. Till today the company has been growing constantly and produces biochar production plants for the wide market since 2010.
