Discovering novel precision biomarkers to repurpose and develop new drugs for pediatric cancer. - Repurposing existing drugs: Identifying new biomarkers allows for the modification of existing therapeutic targets in adult cancer drugs and will help identify treatments for children with greater therapeutic effect and lower toxicity. - Developing new drugs: Access to accurate information about each type of childhood tumor from identification of new biomarkers will facilitate the development of new drugs specifically for children with cancer and ensure more effective cancer treatments.

Experience in project management, leading early research projects related to target definition, characterization, validation and identification of therapeutic indications.

Chromatin Biology group – Evaluating chromatin regulators as drug targets in cancer.- MoA study of EZH2 inhibitors in Multiple Myeloma, including proliferation assays, gene expression analysis at RNA and protein levels, ChIP, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.- Investigation of the druggability of UHRF1 in different cellular models by the use of shRNAs and rescue experiments and their effects on cell proliferation and DNA methylation.

Lab of Dr. Esteban Ballestar – Epigenetic Changes in EBV-mediated conversion of resting to proliferative B cells.- Establishment of protocols for human B-cell extraction and transformation by Epstein-Barr virus.- Study of DNA methylation changes during this transformation process using high-throughput DNA methylation assays and pyrosequencing.- Investigation of the histone modifications and chromatin structure changes during the transformation of primary human B-cells utilizing western-blot, confocal microscopy, ChIP and Micrococcal nuclease–Southern blot assay.
