Rob Henning is passionate about the role of technology, markets, and investment to deliver prosperity and profits. Over the past 25 years, he’s lived and worked across the Global South working with the people and leaders of countries as diverse as Afghanistan, Rwanda, and Haiti to build businesses, industries, and economies that can deliver prosperity for the citizens of these countries. A fluent French speaker, he is particularly intrigued with work in Francophone countries in Africa and beyond. Rob is particularly skilled at structuring and closing complex partnerships that bring together the people, investment, and insight required for success. In post-earthquake Haiti, he led a process to close $2 million in blended finance to launch a housing solutions company with a focus on earthquake and hurricane resistant technology combined with a franchise-based distribution system. In Rwanda and Afghanistan, he worked with these nation’s leaders to develop national and industry level strategies and investment plans to drive economic transformation. In Malawi, he led a team that translated a private foundation’s strategy into a $30 million portfolio of programs that spanned agricultural technology, investment, policy, education, and entrepreneurship. Rob received his undergraduate degree in Economics and French from the University of Vermont and his MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He currently resides in Washington, DC with his wife, two sons, and a new puppy. Outside of work, you’ll find Rob road and mountain biking in the spring, summer, and fall and “earning his turns” on ski slopes with his alpine touring gear in the winter.
