    West International AB was a Hardware Distributor, mainly in Retail POS products. The company had just shifted CEO and was seeking to expand into new growth areas. I was engaged to lead sales, development and delivery of a WestInt branded customizable off-the-shelf value proposition in the Self Service & Digital Signage area. A suite of modular Self Service kiosk cabinets was designed. A software platform was developed featuring multi-service architecture, software management, surveillance, remote administration, payment terminal integration, digital signage, sms services, partner and customer integrations, bespoke applications and several customizable applications. The Self Service kiosks was channelled both via POS system suppliers, and directly as turnkey solutions to customers in many areas; restaurants, sports arenas, package delivery, banking, car inspection, gift cards, churches, etc. In 18 months a critical mass of business (400 kiosks were shipped, eg. to Schenker Privpak and Max Hamburger) was established and I handed over. A frame agreement was signed with Micros (today Oracle).

But they needed to reposition and find a new edge. End2End acquired Terraplay aspiring to becoming the number one in running the gaming section for mobile operator portals. I was employed as Head of End2End Sweden & Dir. Product Mgmt to lead the merger and integration of Terraplay into End2End. The “best of” the respective technical platforms was integrated and further improved. In recognition of the successful merger End2End received the Mobile Entertainment Awards 2008 for Best Managed Service Platform.

    Terraplay Systems AB provided a Multiplayer Gaming Engine for leading Developers and Publishers of PC, console and mobile games. But increasingly the customers developed their own multiplayer technologies and the company needed to reposition. I was employed as Sales & Business Development Director to lead the change of direction. We decided to create a new market place for mobile games comprising of three main components. The first was to enable consumers to download games for free with a pay and play payment model instead of paying before download. The second was a mobile shop for download of games. The third was a cross-operator gaming community offering incentives for gamers to upload high-scores and compete for prizes. As this strategy was executed I contributed with a strategic, visionary and hands-on operational leadership transforming the Terraplay value proposition and product portfolio in two years. During this period the company was heavily down sized and I gradually shifted responsibilities from Sales & Business Development to heading up Product Management, Development and Operations. The turn-around was achieved through both in-house and out-sourced development, technology partnering and acquisition. In recognition of the success Terraplay won two consecutive Mobile Entertainment Awards, in 2006 and 2007, for Best Games Service Provider, which in turn enabled a successful exit to End2End Content Services in October 2007.

Its presentation framework and background download made it perfect for live feeds of (e.g. news, sports results, financial data) and multimedia comprising text, image, sound and video. Key customers included e.g. CNN, Financial Times, Reuters, Aftonbladet. Key partners included e.g. Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Three and T-Mobile. Mediabricks made its exit to Handmark Inc. in 2005.
