As an intern, I worked under a senior developer to learn common practices in developing a web application from scratch. My first project was implementing an algorithm to schedule meetings between clients and associates, ensuring there were no time conflicts. During the course of this project, my algorithm went through multiple revisions with the help of my supervisor as I learned best practices for programming in TypeScript and as I better understood the context of my algorithm within the entire application. When completing my next projects, my supervisor was impressed by the quality of my work, telling me he could clearly see the my direction and intent, complimenting my organization and code readability. My next projects included independently designing a One-Time Password login page where I mainly practiced front end and design skills, and independently implementing forms to save client metrics to the SQL database.

As a Morning Merchandiser, I ensured the products being offered by Costco were undamaged, well organized, and clearly labeled to maintain best sales performance. When assisting at check outs, I performed customer service tasks to guarantee the high levels of customer satisfaction so that my work would align with Costco's and my own values.

During the course of this internship I had two main projects. The first was updating the database upgrader script to allow for selective updating of databases. This required understanding the existing code and how it interacted with the platform infrastructure. The second project was to write a machine learning model in Beacon Notebook - essentially a version of Jupyter Notebook hosted within the Beacon Platform that was in development during my internship. Without any prior machine learning experience, I had to spend a week getting up to speed with designing and data processing for machine learning models. My final result of the project was a model that would (very inaccurately) predict stock price values given historical data.

As a Shift Leader, I was to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the store. This meant I was responsible for ensuring the store was ready for opening in a timely manner, and that the store operations were quickly completed after close. I handled customer complaints and ensured customers were consistently delivered quality service. As a Shift Leader, I made it my goal to lead by example and only ask of people what I knew I could do myself. My role also meant that I was often required to perform my duties without assistance, which developed my independence and problem-solving skills.

I performed with Divergent Winds, an Independent A class WGI Winds group. We would spend over 15 hours each Friday and Saturday learning and rehearsing our performance, in addition to the classes we were taking as high school and college students. I was the sole clarinetist and was responsible for a solo performance during one of the three songs. Our efforts culminated in an unforgettable experience where we performed in the semifinals at UD arena in Dayton Ohio for the WGI World Championships, where we unfortunately did not pass into the finals round of competition, placing 4th out of 6.

Participated in my high school marching band, where each year we would perform and compete at multiple Michigan Competing Band Association competitions throughout the season, finishing the local season off with a performance at the State Championships hosted at Ford Field. In my junior year (2017) I was promoted to rank captain of the clarinet section. Two of the years I participated (2015 and 2017), we were given the opportunity to finish our competitive season in the Bands of America Grand National Championship, hosted at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Participating in the Grand National Championship was always the most exciting opportunity of the year, where we would perform our own show, then have the opportunity to watch incredible performances put on by bands hailing from across the entire country.
