As an intern with the Tool Engineering team, I collaborated with engineers and technicians in the design, modification, and maintenance of specialized tools, fixtures, and equipment used in production processes.I cooperated with my intern team to reduce potential for non-conformances on the Helicopter Air Data System pitot-static tubing install and alter planning to ensure consistent manufacturing processes. I gained exposure to tool design using both CATIA and NX8, and utilized GD&T to evaluate engineering drawings. My time as a Boeing intern exposed me to all aspects of production engineering and allowed me to see how design engineering connected and related to the fabrication of a final product.

During my time at Composite Approach, I was able to witness and take part in all stages of the composites engineering and manufacturing field. As an engineering intern, I was assigned a broad range of tasks, including mold design, part design, work instruction development, CNC machine programming and operation, and more. I gained a wealth of knowledge regarding the function and production of composite materials, and their importance in the aerospace sector. Composite Approach is a contract-based business, which allowed me to work on projects for companies such as EarthCruiser, Speed Aircraft, Volansi, Fenix Space, and many more. I also took part in in-house projects, such as the structural design for a composites curing oven. Working as a full-fledged team member for a small private engineering and manufacturing company provided me with invaluable experience that will undoubtedly serve me well as I continue along my engineering journey.

As a member of the engineering department, I participated in the design, fabrication, and installation of a variety of products. My projects included front and rear winch bumpers, bead-lock racing wheels, bumper-mounted storage, and other miscellaneous products. I used Solidworks daily to design new products and update outdated files. Regularly I collaborated with my coworkers throughout the manufacturing process, including adjusting to design changes and creating engineering drawings. I was able to see several projects through to completion, giving me valuable insight on means of production.Working at Buckstop has left me with incredible insight into manufacturing design, sheet metal construction, and the off-roading industry. I hope to build on my acquired skills as I move forward in my career.
