Starting as Publishing Assistant, I was promoted twice to Assistant Content Editor. The roles involved working with the content team in both production and editorial for our professional and digital books, study texts, subscription products and magazine. Author management – managing the authors and schedules for titles during the writing process.Editorial – I was involved in the editorial process for all products, including our new books and digital titles, and was responsible for copyediting and sending our weekly newsletter The Company Secretary. Proofreading – inhouse proofreader on ‘ICSA Solutions’ ebooks, Governance and Compliance magazine, and reports, guidance and research.Production – managing titles through production and working closely with the production manager to help supervise all publications; liaising with freelance editors, proofreaders and typesetters, organising print runs, and ensuring our titles are produced to the highest of standards.Administrative – responsible for all invoice coding and filing, contracts, and stock for our book shop.

I undertook an internship in the editorial department of Jacqui Small, a specialist in high-quality illustrated books on a range of subjects such as food and drink, gardening, interiors and craft.Editorial – writing jacket copy, proofreading text and organising a foreign rights catalogue. Project management – off the back of my performance, I had my internship extended and this allowed me to be in charge of organising our presence at the London Book Fair, including preparing portfolios, creating jackets for the book dummies, sorting customer notes and ensuring everything was ready in advance of the event.Media – I attended multiple photo shoots and witnessed the process behind creating and arranging the media for a photographic book. I was also responsible for sourcing images from international companies.

Ear Productions (now Crisis Guardian) is an award-winning production company which creates film, audio and other media for corporate training. Their clients include Barclays, Nomura, PwC, Rolls-Royce, Adidas and Nike.Editorial work – working with script briefs and drafts, proofreading and copyediting.Writing and design – part of the team that developed our ‘Multimedia Toolkits’ (which won ‘Most Innovative Product’ at the 2009 CIR awards), I wrote audio and film scripts as well as designing content and sourcing film stock.Administrative – calendar management, scheduling, and liaising with freelance crew and client companies.On location film shoots – I helped plan and manage multiple film shoots, including a week-long film shoot for Barclays in Canary Wharf, which I organised and oversaw as Production Coordinator. As well as creating the filming schedule and call sheet, this involved coordinating the film crew, directing the second camera unit and ensuring the shoot ran smoothly. My role required me to meet tight deadlines within a high-pressure environment and maintain an exceptionally high level of quality.
