I have continued to hone my soft skills, time management skills, communication skills, and client relationship building skills while working at the Ocean Course. The first thing that comes to mind is adaptability. With hundreds of golf members, I had to stay on my toes to keep track of who was using a push cart, who was riding, who needed a pin sheet, and where each member's clubs went. The numerous variables made the job dynamic and challenging.I also continued to hone my interpersonal relationship skills at CCA. The membership was a diverse group, each with specific needs, from the simplest requests to the most nuanced preferences.CCA, being a private club, hosts numerous events throughout the year for its members, such as the annual member-guest tournament, club championship, and weekly events like "Ladies Golf Day" and the "Member Blitz." Event coordination was a significant part of my responsibilities.Through all these experiences, I further developed my skills in client relations, customer service, and soft skills. Show less

Unlike Pinehurst, which is a public resort, Eagle Point is a private country club. At Pinehurst, I would caddie for golfers who would leave the next day. At Eagle Point, I interacted with the same members daily, which helped me learn about client relations. Knowing I would see the same members regularly, I paid attention to individual preferences and maintained client relationships. This skillset enabled me to caddie in Phil Mickelson's group during the 2017 Wells Fargo Pro-am.During my time at Eagle Point, I developed a great relationship with a member named Michael Anderson, who was in the car business and taught me a lot about sales. I looped for him every time he played, and we always had a great time together. When the Wells Fargo Championship came around, he let me caddie for him while we both watched in awe as we played in the same group as Phil Mickelson.Caddying at Eagle Point also taught me how to adapt to various situations. Some groups wanted to play as fast as possible, making the caddie's information secondary to the pace of play. Other times, groups playing big money matches relied heavily on my advice. Occasionally, golfers would blame me for poor play, and I had to learn how to bite my tongue and handle these situations professionally. Show less

Looping at Pinehurst was my first real job, aside from picking range balls at the local driving range while growing up. This job taught me a few things. Firstly, it was where I began to develop my soft skills and learn about customer service. Meeting new people from all over the country every day was a quick way for an 18-year-old to learn how to interact with people from all walks of life. Meeting new people from all over the country every day was a quick way for an 18-year-old to learn how to interact with people from all walks of life. This is also where I learned how important customer service is. If I worked my butt off reading greens, getting correct yardages, and being personable with the guests, the tip would typically reflect that. Secondly, caddying at Pinehurst taught me about time management. On a typical workday, I would come directly from classes at Sandhills Community College, so I had to know exactly when I would be out of class and communicate that to my boss. In addition to this, my obsession with golf contributed to my time management skills. I knew exactly how long a loop on Pinehurst no. 2, no. 4, and no. 8 would take, and what the closest golf course that I had access to was. Looping on course 4 at 11 am? I'll be on the first tee of course 1 at 440. See you there. Last but not least, this was my introduction to learning how to communicate effectively. Every golfer is different. Some want very specific information, some want as little information as possible to avoid overthinking a shot. In caddying, communication is key. Show less
