The Teaching Assistant Program in France offers young Americans the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. As a resident of France, I am teaching students in Collége (middle School) and Lycée (high school) in the town of Auxerre. Roles include explaining cultural and linguistic concepts, creating exciting environments for language education by directly engaging through activities, games, lessons and hosting a classroom held only in English for students who may have never heard a native speaker before. Additional activities include volunteering to read English books to students and assist in the hosting of special holiday lunches for students to experience cultural exchange.
