Henry Chen is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles and Taiwan. He has traveled all over the world telling stories from all over the globe. His work is deeply rooted in ideas of racial identity, class struggle, and family dynamics. He finds that there is beauty in imperfections and tries to show the duality of the human spirit in everything he creates. His work has been listed in many publications, including Adweek, Creativity, Billboard, TED and Forbes and has picked up awards and nominations at Cannes Lions, Spikes Asia, and the Young Directors Awards to name a few. His work has also been shown at various venues including the Guggenheim museum, TLC Chinese Theatre, and the 89th Academy Awards. In 2014, he started a production company with good friends in Taiwan and is also part of the directing duo HENRY/SSONG.Henry recently finished the short The Love Motel which is currently in the midst of its festival run and recently premiered at HIFF and Outfest Los Angeles. He’s working on his first feature and can’t wait to share it with the world. Henry continues to hustle so that he can achieve what he’s always set out to do, to make something that is real, raw and representative of the world.
