New Arboretum Records aims to cultivate the next generation of Memphis musicians through the creation of a platform that allows artists to share new music directly with fans around the world. Created and supported by the Mike Curb Institute for Music at Rhodes College.

The Mike Curb Institute for Music at Rhodes College works to foster awareness and understanding of the distinct musical traditions of the South and to study the effect music has had on its culture, history, and economy. I began my work with the Curb institute as a studio tech, handling audio technology and creating a functional recording space on campus. After completing a summer research fellowship, I took on the role of project manager with New Arboretum Records, a record label for the Institute which I created under the mentorship of Dr. John Bass.

The Rhodes Institute for Regional Studies is an eight-week summer program in which I will pursue independent research and a creative project through the regional lens of Memphis and the Mid-South area. Grounded in the liberal arts tradition, the Rhodes Institute brings together fellows and faculty to engage in an intimate intellectual odyssey. At the end of the summer, I will submit my project to a permanent digital collection. I will also have the opportunity to continue my research beyond the Institute.
