While in the USAF, I was lucky enough for the plane I worked Avionics on to be retired at a time that would sink me in to the IT field. I retrained in 1996 in to an IT job working as a network installer. At the time, there wasn't a guy for DNS, one for DHCP, one for the circuit, etc. Therefore, I learned a network connection from the keyboard all the way through to the distant end. This established a firm all around understanding that most network engineers do not get, even more so today.I got out of the AF after 14 years to pursue and expand my new interest in Networking. I worked for AT&T on the Merrill Lynch account for a couple years before moving to Worldcom working changes/troubles on hundreds of different networks furthering my understanding of different technologies and my ability to comprehend in a short amount of time virtually any network at a moments notice. I have since been back to AT&T in another multiple customer environment as well as on the Merrill Lynch account again.I'm now working full time at Verizon on the Terremark team working on multiple environments each with hundreds of customers. I also maintain a part time position at Solstas Lab Partners which is more of a hands on job.I consider myself very lucky to have been working in an environment that is not only very lucrative, but one that I seem to enjoy and get great satisfaction from.I love working with and for people. If there is a chance for me to share what I know with my teammates, I jump at the chance. I love to see a trainee fulfill an understanding of something he once didn't comprehend.
