Growing up as a kid, my family practiced kitchen and garden waste composting which was then used in organic farming. Nothing organic out of our kitchen went to the landfills! This was practised in my family for 2 generations starting with my Grandfather. I didn't know about it then but now I know that it had probably saved a lot of methane emissions in the landfills.
