As a laboratory scientist with Merrick and Company I provide scientific and technical writing support for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC).

Purified genetically engineered myosin V using Sf9/Baculovirus expression vector system - these myosin V constructs formed trimers designed to optimize naturally occurring dimers.Mentored and supervised undergraduate summer students by guiding them through planning of project goals and teaching lab techniques, data presentation and analysis.

Developed a photolithographic process for fabricating specialized thin quartz substrates for use in optical TIRF fluorescence microscopy (to study protein kinetics) and optical tweezers force measurements (to study protein mechanics) for simultaneous study of the mechanics and kinetics of actin-myosin interactions at the NIH. Spearheaded project at the NIST NanoFabrication Cleanroom Facility to manufacture the quartz slides and validated their structural integrity using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
