Andres has 15+ years of experience in hardware design, architecture, system integration and leading teams. He is passionate about the intersection of technology, creativity, product design, leadership, and engineering. As GM, Partner of Gaming Devices Engineering, Andres leads electrical engineering, firmware, HW AI, and system integration across Xbox Devices. His team also incubates future products for Xbox. The most recent products that his team launched include Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, multiple accessories, and the blade hardware that runs the xCloud service.Andres has been leading large teams (40+) over the past 6+ years and has led smaller teams since 2013. Andres built a new team in 2017 that delivered on Xbox Series S, X and xCloud. During this time, the team's diversity increased by 4x.Andres previously performed the roles of Senior Director, Principal technical lead, and system engineer/architect. He has 15 patents issued, two industry paper publications, and multiple patents pending. Early as an engineer, Andres designed several of the HW UX features for Xbox One, and architected the thermal/power management techniques for Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X. He also developed the first 1Gbit ethernet solution for Xbox. He moved to Microsoft’s Silicon Valley campus for 3+ months to work with on silicon and architecture for the first Southbridge for Xbox with an eMMC flash solution. Andres completed Microsoft’s professional certificate on AI and ML in 2019.Andres is passionate about increasing minority representation in STEM careers. He has partnered with multiple non-profits including Code.org and Beyond the Ball to deliver on events to inspire and bring minority students into STEM. During his free time, Andres participates in triathlons and endurance events. Most of these events are with a fundraising purpose to give back to the community. He has competed at the USAT National Championships, the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, and is a 3x time Ironman finisher. Andres served as a board member for the Washington Athletic Club. Previous to joining Microsoft, Andres interned for Texas Instruments and Schlumberger. Andres received his bachelor's and master's degrees on electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Tech. During his time at Georgia Tech, he attended a study abroad program in France and spent a large majority of his grad school years in software development. He is currently pursuing an executive MBA at MIT's Sloan School of Management. Andres lives with his wife Carolina in Seattle, Washington.
