About Matt Herron

Matt has 25 years of experience in consumer and medical product development. Prior to Neato Robotics, he was consulting with early stage medical device companies, helping turn ideas and concepts into prototypes, and prototypes into products. He is always happy to discuss potential opportunities (see "Herron Consulting" below for more details).Matt has worked for some of the top design firms in the world, including frogdesign, where he was VP of Engineering for four years, and IDEO. He has managed multi-disciplinary development teams including mechanical engineering, Industrial design, and User Interface Design, and understands the value of synergy with marketing. He also enjoys contributing individually on tough technical challenges, augmenting or leading client teams, sourcing expertise for specific needs, conducting design reviews and brainstorming. At Calypso Medical, he helped develop a complex system for tracking soft tissue tumors in real time during radiation treatment. As V.P. of Product Development at Softbook Press, he helped create the world’s first, and second generation of eBook readers. At Apple he helped design the first risk PowerPC, the ergonomic split keyboard, a three-axis force feedback mouse, the PowerBook 150, and the Duo family of notebooks. He is listed as inventor on more than three dozen granted and pending patents. When he isn’t brainstorming, Matt enjoys programming, sailing, electric mountain biking, and flying sailplanes.
