Working through this local not for profit organization and the Tennessee Department of Corrections I updated their Cognitive Behavioral Interventions program taught in their maximum-security prisons in Nashville TN. Cognitive Behavioral Interventions – A Comprehensive Curriculum (CBIP) is designed to provide a thorough intervention that broadly targets all criminogenic needs. As the name suggests, this intervention relies on a cognitive behavioral approach to teach participants strategies to manage risk factors. The program places heavy emphasis on skill building activities to assist with cognitive, social, emotional, and coping skill development. The curriculum provides modifications so that offenders with mental illness can participate, though it is not dedicated exclusively to this population. The goal of this ongoing project is to stay current of the newest research and integrate technology in the classroom.

I love working with this local not for profit organization creating training and resources on preparing students with disabilities for life after high school. My goal is to improve transition outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities by sharing research-based practices and policies. My curriculum is updated constantly to keep up with trends in the classroom. The lessons have been organized into different sections for our contract instructors, and for studentsEffective Pre-ETS instruction for students with disabilities will enhance their skills as they transition to adulthood. The goal is to create content that allows the teacher to connect with each of our students to learn what motivates them, and what their goals, interests, and strengths are, will allow that allows our teachers the ability to tailor the lessons and activities in creative ways. Adapting content to virtual instruction also gives students exposure to different types of technology and the opportunity to increase their skills in working with technology.
