Horia F. POP graduated in Computer Science from the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca (UBB) in 1991 and got his PhD degree in Computer Science from UBB in 1995. Since October 1991 he is with the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, UBB. Since 2004 he works as a Professor of Computer Science. He is a PhD supervisor in Computer Science at UBB Cluj (since 2006), and at ELTE Budapest (since 2009). He is teaching courses, seminars and practical works in areas related to Artificial Intelligence. He has published around 150 scientific papers, among which more than 60 are indexed in ISI, SCOPUS and CORE databases. He developed scientific visits at leading universities and institutions, among which a participation at a DFG program on Natural Language Processing with the University of Hamburg (1999-2001), a joint NSF contract on Soft Computing with the University of Memphis (2000-2003), and visiting professorship at the Wayne State University in Detroit (2006). He has been principal investigator in interdisciplinary research projects involving robust methods of data analysis and investigation with applications to natural sciences, health and medicine.
