Dr. Tim Yeh LabProject: Development of Fluorescence Lifetime Neuromodulator Sensors• Elucidate the activities of neuromodulators such as acetylcholine (ACh) and dopamine (DA) using Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM). • Prepare experimental samples using human urinary bladder cancer cells (T-24) and human embryonic kidney cells (HEK-293T) by transfecting cells with neuromodulator sensors.• Perform bacterial transformation and mini-prep on engineered plasmid once every month • Perform one-photon FLIM experiments independently twice per week.• Analyze fluorescence lifetime results using phasor plot, time-domain or frequency-domain.• Develop Python/ MATLAB software for real-time lifetime analysis. Project: Study the Glioblastoma Tumor Metabolism through Autofluorescence, in collaboration with Dr. Stephanie Seidlits• Understand the metabolism of Glioblastoma tumor under various engineering hyaluronic acid (HA) based hydrogel through NADH and FAD autofluorescents.• Operate two-photon FLIM experiments independently once per two weeks.

BME 303 Intro to Computing• Cooperated with TAs and professor to organize and grade computing labs for students. • Examined labs’ PowerPoints and prepared Instapoll questions for in-class participation.• Organized one-on-one sessions with students to assist with lab assignments.

Project: I-CARE: Development of a more affordable phoropter for developing countries • Cooperate with a team of six to investigate the impact of obstacles to eyecare on patients in developing countries and/or hard-to-reach regions. • Use CAD to prototype liquid-lens phoropters that reduce the equipment cost by 150 times and weight by 10 times. • Analyze the material strength and effectiveness of assembled models.• Contact ten doctors and volunteer groups globally for feedback/interest in the ideas. • Present the prototypes to professors and university competitions.

- Organize five small classes to teach math, reading, and STEM-related courses to children aged 6-17 and students with ADHD and autism.- Cooperate with parents/schools to organize holiday events for students.- Strengthen patience and active listening skills to help students.
