Role listed
Assistant Manager
Assistant Manager with Talent as my area of responsibilityI consistently build effective schedules on a weekly basis; increasing the store’s scheduling optimization score ~50%.Within six weeks of employment, I recruited, interviewed and onboarded new hires in order to double the brand associate staffing. This removed a staffing shortage and improved efficiency based on availability patterns. I adjusted the schedules on a daily and weekly basis as a result of traffic trends, shift callouts and store needs.
Sales Consultant
I consult customers on furniture preferences: provide pricing and merchandise arrival estimates. I examine purchase orders to determine if any incoming merchandise fits the client's needs. I assist in recruitment efforts by writing job posts for vacant positions and assessing applicants through Indeed, LinkedIn, and in-person inquiries. I utilize my training experience by providing technology training to team members when needed. I create social media posts through supplier advertising tools, in-stock merchandise, and current promotions. I organize customer invoices and paperwork by auditing the drawers for accuracy, removing outdated files, and properly filing new paperwork.
Assistant Manager
After getting settled into my new job, I was promoted to the Assistant Manager position. This required me to continue development in all areas of the job, but also add in the job responsibilities of: overseeing the repair process, weekly district meetings, monthly assistant manager meetings, completing training with employees in areas of opportunity, on boarding new hires through training, implementing new store technologies. I oversaw merchandise check-ins and verified merchandise counts along with completing regular audits. I reported KPIs to the manager and district manager. I delegated and completed daily standards practices throughout the store. In order to maximize sales, I utilized my thorough knowledge of payment options: Comenity Credit Card, Genesis Credit Card, Progressive Leasing, & Affirm. I completed sales to customers and provided pristine customer service based on their needs.
Jewelry Consultant
While navigating the familiarity of sales experience, the jewelry industry brought multiple facets of learning including, but not limited to: jewelry jargon, outreach, repairs, fraud prevention, and multiple payments options. This in conjunction with the new retail environment, as a result of the pandemic, required a learning curve to navigate a different retail space that could offer a excellent customer experience, despite the environmental differences. This required me to be flexible and adaptable to the quick changes implemented.
Talent Lead
After working two part-time jobs, I was elated to be able to jump into working full-time by stepping into the Talent Lead position. Although the time in which I was in this position and the store was open to the public was brief as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, I developed a variety of different skills unique to today's climate. Before the pandemic, I extensively practiced opening and closing procedures, tracked sales, completed I-9 training, and dabbled in Taleo's hiring software. After returning from the furlough, I adapted to the routine changes in order to promote safety and wellbeing of everyone in the store. I was granted the opportunity to learn about the store processes like inventory transfers. Through these processes, I acquired delegation abilities for complex tasks. Not reopening to the public presented new challenges of supporting frustrated employees and customers alike. As a result of the news that the location would be liquidated, I was able to utilize my previous experience in liquidation for the duration of the process. Overall, the my time solidified my confidence in my ability to lead, tackle tasks from a different perspective, and use personal curiosity to learn more about the company I worked for. The skillset I gained through this leadership position translates into all work that I do.
Brand Associate
After being out of the retail scene for a few years, I jumped back into it in full force. Utilizing my interpersonal communications skills and implementing my product knowledge allowed me to connect with customer in every sales transaction. I assisted upper level management in obtaining customer loyalty through credit card applications and building sales. Genuinely invested in each customer who walked through the doors, I employed problem solving techniques with each dilemma present in order to leave customers satisfied with their experience.
Partner
Coming from a retail background, I adjusted the way I communicated to customers so that I remained able to create positive customer connections while quickly moving people through the drive thru and front register. Remembering customer names and orders, allowed me to develop good connections with the people I saw on a regular basis.I tackled the learning curve for the P.O.S. system as I became accustomed to a restaurant based P.O.S. as opposed to a retail P.O.S. I also obtained the coffee world colloquialisms. After the training of barring specifications, I was knowledgeable about the different drink varieties; bettering my ability to give recommendations to customers. I implemented interpersonal communication skills in order to satisfy agitated customers; particularly through empathy when correcting mistakes. Maintaining an upbeat attitude and conversing with the customers in a way that made them feel understood and rationalized brought me positive results. Overall, I enjoyed the challenges and learning curves of working at Starbucks. This job brought me out of my comfort zone by teaching me ways to modify my existing skillset in a way that made it more flexible. My brevity was a result of a full-time position elsewhere, but fundamentals of what I experienced have stuck with me and applied to my current position.
Picture Framer - Sales Associate
When I was a teenager, I was eager to start making my own income, so I took a part-time job at my local craft store. My love of art coupled with an attention to detail positioned me to work in the framing portion of the store. I had no knowledge of the practice, but was taught how to assemble frames, provide estimates for customers, conduct framing consultations, and record keep.I was given a wide breadth of knowledge about the other sections of the store in order to help customers within the store find the items they needed. I took consultations for floral arrangements in the absence of the florist. Cut ribbon and fabric for customers. I developed knowledge of shipment processing, inventory, and working a manual P.O.S. system. I assisted with the opening and closing procedures as well. As a result of the owner's age, they decided to retire and close down the store. I worked in the store throughout the liquidation process and acquired a knowledge of liquidating and the procedures that it entails.
