Himayu is an international security policy expert with extensive experience with the United Nations and INGOs in research, policy advice, and multilateral negotiations on international security and disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control. He has authored numerous publications.Currently the Director of Policy and Research at Conflict Armament Research (CAR). Also serving as Advisor to the President (Costa Rica) of the 4th Review Conference of the UN Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons.Formerly served as Advisor to the Chair (Germany) of the United Nations Open-ended Working Group on Conventional Ammunition, a multilateral process that successfully adopted a new global framework on conventional ammunition. Prior to his time at CAR, Himayu served as the Head of Conventional Arms Programme at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). Before this, he served as a Research Associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS). Master’s degree in International Policy Studies, with a Certificate in Nonproliferation Studies, from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Languages include English, Japanese and Hindi.
