Believing that computer science, biology, and statistics are more powerful when practiced together, I focus on cross-disciplinary approaches for discovery. Supported by a National Science Foundation fellowship, I’m a PhD candidate in the UCSF Biological & Medical Informatics program.Before coming to UCSF, I conducted research at Dartmouth Medical School, Cornell University, and the Lewis-Sigler Institute at Princeton University. As an undergraduate at Cornell, I majored in biostatistics with an emphasis in genomics and computer science.At Cornell, I competed on the policy debate team. My debate partner and I remain the only team in the university’s history to have qualified for the National Debate Tournament three times. Through debate, I developed a passion for communication—a passion which I apply to my career in science. I aim to make science accessible, not only within academia by supporting the freedom of knowledge, but also more broadly by supporting a scientific discourse that engages the public.
