Our main work in the Arctic Group is the development of under-sea ice drones and research on new navigation systems under sea ice using low-frequency electromagnetic waves. Every year we go on a two-month voyage to the Arctic Ocean. We are working on developing the first electrochemical based direct marine CDR system in Japan starting in 2021. Last summer, we held a public demonstration of the prototype in Yokohama! Starting this year, we have obtained external funding to accelerate the development of the system. The system will be installed in floating offshore wind turbines, and we aim to remove 0.2~0.3 GtCO2/year in 2050, just for domestic installations in Japan.
