Ecologist
Current• Lead & assist multi-disciplinary teams in a variety of ecology initiatives to support GDOT project delivery - Manage updates to GDOT Ecology SOP guidance documents to ensure practitioners have access to the most current GDOT & regulatory agency policies and procedures. This includes drafting documents, serving as a QAQC reviewer on others, and managing the team's schedule and overall tracking of updates to over 25 documents. - Draft updates to GDOT's protected species survey methodologies manual and coordinate with resource agency species experts to ensure biologically sound procedures are being followed by GDOT Ecology practitioners across the state. - Develop standardized restrictive language and management plans for known protected species occurrences in GDOT's ROW to aide in species preservation throughout regular ROW maintenance activities and future construction projects. - Develop content (e.g. scripts, storyboards, etc.) and provide creative input for multi-media training pertaining to GDOT Ecology special studies, including Individual Permit training modules - Collaborate with GDOT and regulatory resource agency staff to develop programmatic agreements and procedures to streamline coordination efforts• On an as-needed basis, cover for GDOT Ecology Team Leaders in long-term absences/vacancies - Serve as primary reviewer on in-house documentation and secondary reviewer on consultant documentation including ecology resource survey reports, assessment of effects reports, protected species reports, permit and variance applications, etc. - Provide guidance on GDOT procedures and environmental policies to team of ecologists
