2nd Line of Defence ("2LoD") Risk Framework Manager responsible for: • Managing the annual review cycle of all Risk Framework Minimum Standards, including Regulatory Risk, Compliance and Conduct standards, liaising with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure completion to schedule and reporting of key changes to the Risk Management Committee. • Facilitation of the Group’s annual Assessment of Risk Behaviours and Attitudes, used by Exco to identify improvements to the Group's risk culture. • Development and production of reports and automated dashboards allowing 2LoD to monitor the business’s adherence to the Risk Management Framework. • Providing Risk Framework guidance to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) programme

Underwriting expert on a major cross-divisional business transformation programme, using agile project methodology. Responsible for: • Identifying improvements required to Guidewire’s “PolicyCenter” policy administration system in order to ensure it is suitable for business needs, focuses on customer outcome and that risk is controlled. Working with business analysts and developers to agree best approach, document requirements and test and approve the changes once delivered. • Working with operational colleagues to define end-to-end business processes across the customer journey for all transactions, taking into account the needs of the business, the customer and shareholders. • Specifying system controls to be built and allocation of those “permissions” to all roles across Sales, Service, Underwriting and Pricing. • Explanation and demonstration of functionality, issues and decisions to stakeholders across the business in order to obtain appropriate sign-off and support transition to BAU.

Responsible for: • Contributing to the development and achievement of strategic goals for multiple DLG brands including NIG, Churchill, Privilege, Sainsbury’s, RBS and Natwest, Direct Line, Nationwide and other partners. • Monitoring and analysing account performance and industry/regulatory developments, making recommendations for underwriting change and pricing reviews to ensure business plans are achieved through collaboration with pricing and commercial colleagues. • Identifying, mitigating and resolving risks arising internally or through third parties, such as marketing promotions, broker or partner performance, products and actions.• Providing underwriting expertise to tender responses for new brokers and partners, reviewing relevant financial information and highlighting any concerns. • Supporting strategic projects as an underwriting subject matter expert, using waterfall methodology, including new distribution channels through brokers, partners and price comparison websites.

Project managed launch of a new home insurance scheme for Post Office Ltd, reporting to a steering committee of Executive Directors and co-ordinating a project team of senior management to ensure timely achievement of targets and successful launch. Key point of contact for the Post Office throughout the project and following launch, providing management information, technical input on marketing and strategy, and demonstrating proactive resolution management.

Developed and project managed the launch of several specialist personal lines products (central heating service cover, extended warranty, park homes/caravans cover and motor breakdown) for affinity partners, primarily Age Concern. This included cover specification, rating negotiation, brochure design and copy, staff training and systems development. Day-to-day management of suppliers including insurers, helpline providers and design agency/printers.

Promoted through the department from Insurance Technician to Team Leader, managing a customer service and processing team. Wrote and delivered several induction and technical training courses and went on to work full time with the Training Manager.
