At the University of Washington I began working at the student lab, taking calls, forwarding bigger issues to techs, and renting out equipment. Occasionally I would solve technical issues that came up in the lab and on the phone. In a short time I began training others on Helpdesk and lab functions in addition to managing them to a degree. Starting in my junior year I joined the desktop support team rather than working in the lab. I began deploying and working on our various systems including hardware and software. I regularly completed issue tickets, solving issues in person, over the phone, and by email. I assisted with a campus wide upgrade to Windows 10 over a couple of months. I also helped extensively with managing and maintaining technological property throughout the campus. I stayed in this position working with the two amazing FTE desktop supports until I graduated! I felt like an exceptionally impactful part of the team despite only working part-time.
