I have always been a people person. From my first days of school, being scolded for chatting in class, to making connections with strangers wherever I go now, be it bus, gym, shop, etc.! It is not surprising, therefore, that I have chosen the career path of Clinical Psychology.Asking people questions enthrals me. I love to learn about what drives them, and what their core values are. Some of my favourite psychological models and therapies reflect this, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to name one. I strive to enact these principles in my work, as well as in day-to-day, life.I am currently working as a Psychological Wellbeing Assistant at Salford Royal Hospital, and loving every second of it. I'm gaining crucial experience in communicating with people with cognitive impairments and mental health conditions. Alongside this, I am learning what sort of psychologist I want to be, from shadowing my Assistant Psychologist and Clinical Psychologist colleagues. One who is patient, creative, holistic and compassionate.My community support working experience has guided me through my placement well so far, and I continue to do these alongside each other. Understanding differences in people's perceptions of the world is incredibly important to me. I am grateful I get to work with such unique individuals, who challenge me to look at the world in different ways.I also have a history of gymnastics coaching with a level 1 certificate and was a gymnast myself for fifteen years. I play the piano and I paint, when life gets a bit stressful - but not at the same time!
