Petr Holub is a founder&director of Buildings21, a consultancy focusing its advisory on searching for suitable political, regulatory and economic framework for a low-carbon transition of our economies. The main areas of expertise include energy and construction policies, mostly pursuing quality building renovations, development of local renewables or decarbonisation of district heating. We interconnect state authorities, business, NGOs and European partners.For 11 years (2010-2021) he acted as a Director at Chance for Buildings, an alliance by a number of trade associations supporting energy efficient construction and reconstruction of buildings in Czech Republic. Often he acts publicly to promote sustainable energy.He used to serve as an expert consultant for energy and environment. With his advisory he supported public authorities, private enterprises or environmental organizations in the field of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. He also worked part time for SEVEn, The Energy Efficiency Center, one of the leading energy consultancies in the Czech Republic.Until April 2010 he served as a Director of Sustainable Energy and Transport Department at the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic. Before he worked as an adviser to several ministers of environment. His responsibilities at the ministry included development of criteria for the Czech Green Investment Scheme, a programme focused on supporting energy efficiency and renewable energy in residential buildings and for the Operational Programme Environment, a support area for sustainable energy on municipal level. He lead a working group identifying administrative barriers to development of renewable energy and proposing instruments to break them. He also developed and supervised an information campaign on renewable energy for public authorities. In cooperation with ministry of industry he was responsible for negotiating a recast of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive in the EU Council on behalf of the Czech Republic.

Petr Holub previously (2003-2007) worked as a Head of Energy Programme at Friends of the Earth Czech Republic, an influential environmental group, and he also served as a university teacher on a subject of environmental and social aspects of energy utilization at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Brno.He graduated physics (BSc) and environmental studies (MA) at Masaryk University in Brno.
