Found in New York City in 2012 by designer Hongchao Wang and Peng You. In the beginning, the design duo's collaboration mainly focuses on material experiments and craft research. In 2015 with design partners, interior architect Ge Wei, Penglong Geng, and Product Designer Qiyun Deng, Tian Ma joined forces; Benwu Studio became a multi-disciplinary design practice with experience in product, interior, and set design. Benwu Also owns brands such as My apartment, Benwu Edition, dignite. Benwu is both global and local, featuring three offices located in Shanghai/ Beijing/ Shenzhen with 30+ designers in-house work internationally with clients such as Hermes, Vacheron Constantin, Cassina, Isabel Marant, Mini, Baccarat, BMW, Berluti, Swarovski, Cartier, Perrier Jouet, Remy Martin, Martell, Lane Crawford, V&A Musem, UCCA Gallery, Comme Moi, Phoenix Television, Common Gender, Particle Fever, Nestle, AD Magzine, MFK, SKP, Gaga, Erdos, Xander Zhou, Dutch Embassy, Fuli Tapestry, Descente, Nike, Como, Voyah &, etc..

Benwu Edition is Shanghai/New York-based independent designer brand launched by Benwu Studio during the 2015 Salone in Milano. We create a new generation of sustainable furniture, accessories, and lighting by studying and re-thinking everyday life. Inspired by progressive fashion, our design approach is to create playful and functional objects that are advanced as well as relevant. The collection is driven by craftsmanship, material and tech research as well as making sure that every product has a story worth telling. In 2019, we planned a collectable limited-edition line called the Benwu Edition Limited that combines artistry, inspiration, and craftsmanship. This limited collection contains the most premium versions of our best product for the collector market. This quest exists to continually broaden our horizons, all while working across cultures and disciplines to create a vibrant, artistic collection.

- Designed the 2015 Vitrines for Hermes Paris Roissy CDG store.- Designed the Scenography for 2014 Hermes Shanghai Maison Christmas Event.- Designed the 2014 Autumn & Winter Vitrines for Hermès Zurich & Geneva stores.- Assisted the entire production and Manufacturing Process. - Installation & Styling with the Hermès VM crew.
