Certified Mediator in the Chancery and Law Division Programs, having served as a mediator in over 2000 matters. Mediations include complex commercial matters and family business disputes, employment claims, medical and legal negligence cases, and class action matters.After he first left the bench in the 1990s, Judge Sullivan was in private practice doing litigation, arbitration and mediation. He was a senior panelist for JAMS from 1994 until his 2011 return to the bench, and he conducted hundreds of arbitrations and mediations during that time. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University School of Law and Loyola University School of Law, teaching Trial Advocacy and Advanced Trial Advocacy. In addition, he taught at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), with an emphasis on Negotiation and Mediation. He has had two publications in the Illinois Bar Journal, one on Recent Trends in Motions in Limine and the other on Mediation in the Cook County Law Division. He is currently a senior mediator and arbitrator at ADR Systems. Directorships (appointed by the Northern District of Illinois), Commissioner of Real Estate and Guardian Ad Litem positions.
