I was the CEO during restructuring of the insurance company Sjová for its creditors where the investment operations were separated from the insurance side. With a new mandate and rebuilt balance sheet the new insurance company was then able to focus exclusively on providing excellent service to its large client base in Iceland. The Financial Supervisory Authority in Iceland then licensed Sjová.

My employment at Marel began in 1985, two years after the company was founded. At that time Marel had 30 employees, all located in Iceland. In the beginning the company focused on developing advanced equipment for the fish processing industry but later expanded into the poultry and meat processing. During my employment at Marel I was involved in all operations of the company and served as CEO for the final 10 years. The annual growth in turnover (CAGR) was 25% and in EBITDA 35% (CAGR). When I left Marel after 24 years later the company had developed into a market leader through strong organic growth and strategic external growth. Currently Marel, employs around 4.000 employees, has operations in 30 countries and an annual turnover of €650 million.
