Emerald Biofuels produces renewable diesel fuel and co-products from second use fats, oils and greases, non edible oils and agricultural oils. Emerald is in the process of building a 90 million gallon per year refinery. Emerald was awarded $70 million from the Department of Defense for its refinery design in a competitive contest with 130 applicants. Emerald is using a UOP EcoFining(TM) refining technology. The project is being financed using a "project finance" approac with all of the major components of the business contracted with credit worthy counter parties.
